VAP began as an idea in the head of Victor Chin. The name was derived from the first letter of his name and that of his sons Andre and Pierre.

In the 1980s in Florida, Victor started VAP International Purchasing that bought and sold industrial equipment and auto parts. This he closed in 1994.

In 1988, he leased two rooms on Barry Street in Kingston, and together with a staff of four, began manufacturing tank mix drum syrup under the brand Nutri-Fruit for both wholesale and retail. The company also retailed Nutri-Fruit Bag Juice, and VAP was one of the first to introduce locally made juices in a 12 oz. plastic bottle.

"Later on, we produced syrup in gallon bottles mainly for distribution to hotels," says Pierre Chin. "That's when we created the 'Pure' brand and labeled bottles for hotels." Grace Kennedy handled hotel distribution.

VAP re-relocated in 1992 to a 4,600 square-foot facility at White Marl, St. Catherine as its operations continued growing to 26,000 square feet at the same location . In May 2015 VAP purchased prime real estate industrial property of 2 acres with factory space of 39,000 square feet in Twickenham Park, Industrial Estate, Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

The brand name Pure Bulk Syrup was created to sell to wholesalers, and VAP stepped up its marketing. "One of our first ads featuring legendary comedian Oliver Samuels," says Pierre.

The company produced box drinks briefly with the Pure Bulk Syrup, but that product line was discontinued when it showed no real growth. "We then looked for ways to expand the Pure brand and created new products such as Syrup, Vinegar, Lemonade, Orange and Grape Fruit Squash," says Pierre.

In 2008, Mandingo immediately won the Best New Product of the year award when it was launched at the Jamaica Exporters Association/Jamaica Manufacturers Association Expo. Mandingo is manufactured and packaged at VAP.

In November 2008, World Brand Services, of Grace Kennedy, became the official distributor for VAP. "This was to allow us to focus on our core business of manufacturing," says Pierre. World Brand only distributes VAP products to the local market.

Now with 70 employees in areas such as quality control, warehouse, purchasing, accounting and promotions, VAP is on its way to reaching its goal to become the leading Jamaican beverage manufacturer.

VAP exports all its products, Pure Bulk Syrup, Mandingo to distributors in Canada, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, British Virgin Islands, Antigua, St. Martin, Cayman, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Trinidad, Guyana and Cuba. Grace Foods International distributes Mandingo to the Caribbean.

The factory operations now include bottle-making plants with very modern equipment such as the Akai Blow Moulding machine. There is also a Quality Control Lab for testing, two filling lines and a Culligan water treatment plant.
